Exhale (Esalare) is an in – progress solo work which premiered in Vancouver, BC at the Roots of Change Festival in June 2013. This solo vignette is part of a larger performance project that explores the ways in which we function as individuals in the face of all the limitations; resisting them, circumventing them, revising them, revising ourselves to suit them, giving in to them, and conquering them. Dancers are placed in situations that require spontaneous adaption to structural limitations as well as limitations of structure, form, space and time. The final work entitled, Imposter/Malleable, culminated as an evening length immersive performance exploring our response to formality, rigor, and social circumstance through exaggerated animation of the body and the face. The work premiered at Links Hall in late February 2014.
